The speaker for or May 6th meeting is Justin Stevens, Fisheries Biologist ”Restoring Maine’s Sea-Run Fisheries” Justin Stevens is a fishery biologist for the Maine Department of Marine Resources Bureau of Sea-Run Fisheries and Habitat where he works on restoration projects that promote the sustainability of sea-run fish in Maine. Justin has over 25 years’ experience in Maine and has previously worked for the Maine Atlantic Salmon Commission, NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center and Maine Sea Grant. His research has spanned freshwater habitat and population assessments for Atlantic Salmon, alewife and smelt to evaluating stocking strategies, habitat suitability, and restoration monitoring. Much of his time has been in the headwaters and estuary of the Penobscot River. Justin received his B.S. Biology and M.S. in Marine Biology from the University of Maine. As part of the talk he will try and touch on the link that forage species have on larger fish like stripers and give perspective on their plight along the east coast and what that means for Maine’s anglers. Or for those that like to float a fun section in canoes or kayaks I will shuttle anyone, from Howland and they take out at my place [approx. 5-mile float]. We are looking for someone to step up and get speakers for the meetings. It is really easier than you would think let the President know if you are interested in helping the club out. We are looking for a new speaker coordinator or group to get speakers for our meetings. The old coordinator will be stepping down but will be happy to help.

Our regular, monthly meetings are on the first Wednesday of each month. Meal will be baked chicken with all the fixings plus dessert. Coffee and tea will be available also prepared by PCCA members, is always delicious and is available for purchase. $15. Meal purchase is optional - please come to the meeting even if you don't want to purchase the meal.
Penobscot Fly Fishers is a Fly Fishing and 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization that promotes outdoor fishing activities and conservation of our Maine fisheries. We meet at the Penobscot County Conservation Association's clubhouse located at 570 N Main St., Brewer, the first Wednesday of every month, September through June. We have monthly meetings with interesting speakers, local High School fly tying, casting clinics, assist IF&W with fish marking, fish stocking, and of course, fishing!
